For our group project we are interested in looking at the effects of body image on the LMU campus. We think this would be an interesting topic because so many freshman come to college with the fear of gaining the “freshman 15.” We want to see if this is a rational fear. Are students actually gaining weight when they come to college or is this a fallacy? Do the students feel that the food here is suitable enough for them to eat healthy without having to starve? Body image not only effects women but men as well, since coming to college have the men felt a pressure to spend more time in the gym and gain more muscle? Does the school do enough to make everyone feel comfortable in their own skin? Above all else does their view of their body make them act differently, i.e. would they be more confident if they felt skinnier, would they be more confident if they gained weight?
